No Allegiance To Any Flag

One of the grand myths spread both by the oligarchs themselves and the mainstream media is that the captains of industry are some of this nation's greatest patriots. We are led to believe that, next to the Bible, the US Constitution is treated like a founding company document and that the corporate honchos bleed red, white and blue. All to often, this is nothing more than a big fat lie. If cut open, the ONLY color these execs would bleed is green!

Remember back in the 30s and 40s when the Nazis were reviled by Americans? Hitler and his minions represented a threat to democracy. This did not stop companies like IBM from doing business with the regime and reaping tens of millions of dollars in profit. While most of America was boycotting anything and everything German, for IBM, it was business as usual.

In today's world, conservatives have painted the country of Iran as a bastion of terrorism. American companies are not to do business with Iran and a trade ban has been instituted. But why should a silly law get in the way of millions and billions of dollars in profits?

According to a scathing report from Bloomberg, "Koch Brothers Flout Law With Secret Iran Sales" by Asjylyn Loder and David Evans:
A Bloomberg Markets investigation has found that Koch Industries -- in addition to being involved in improper payments to win business in Africa, India and the Middle East -- has sold millions of dollars of petrochemical equipment to Iran, a country the U.S. identifies as a sponsor of global terrorism.

Internal company documents show that the company made those sales through foreign subsidiaries, thwarting a U.S. trade ban. Koch Industries units have also rigged prices with competitors, lied to regulators and repeatedly run afoul of environmental regulations, resulting in five criminal convictions since 1999 in the U.S. and Canada.
Interesting, isn't it? The Koch Brothers -- renowned for their supposed patriotism and active support of conservative causes -- blithely circumvent federal laws when it's in their self-defined best financial interests to do so.

About the ONLY thing most capitalists owe any allegiance to his wealth generation. They salute no flags and the sole god they worship is money!

  1. Not sure if you saw a BBC news video that was floating around in the last few weeks. In a interview with a top wall street broker, the broker went on to speak of making money in hard times - that wall street execs and anyone related cares very little about fixing the economy or what is ailing the country, they are only interested in what will bring them the most riches. Actually taking steps which may lead to the betterment of the population means less $$ in their pocket. Is that what it means to be a patriot or capitalist?
